New Minimum Standards for Homes via PDR

New Minimum Standards for Homes via PDR

New homes delivered via permitted development rights (PDR) will now need to meet the same space standards which apply to new build developments.

The changes announced on 1st October tackle one of the key criticisms of new housing via PDR, and the measures mean that all new homes in England delivered through PDRs will have to meet the Nationally Described Space Standard. The space standard begins at 37m² of floorspace for a new 1 bed flat with a shower room.

This is a welcomed change which reflects the current market trends of creating better quality, well designed spaces.

We are currently marketing several office to residential PDR opportunities, including Riverview House in Godalming which has approval for 46 apartments, all of which exceed the minimum size standards.
