Industrial Revolution in SE26
In order to try to meet targets for the supply of new homes in the Capital, the Mayor’s office have revised planning policies relating to the development of land used for industrial uses. Whilst some industrial sites are now strongly protected, others have been released for residential and mixed use.
Maybury Business Centre in Sydenham SE26 is a typical example of an industrial site in a predominantly residential area which we identified as being suitable for redevelopment. A sale of the circa 2 acre site was agreed on behalf of the private landowners to Bellway Homes for £12.7m, who successfully achieved planning permission for 157 new apartments and business space. Bellway will be starting on site early in 2019.
